Larry Fitzgerald's son caught Bill Belichick's eye.
Devin Fitzgerald, the legendary son of the Arizona Cardinals, revealed that he was offered a scholarship from UNC on Sunday.
“I had the privilege of talking to coach @belichick_b, one of the greatest people ever. I'm thrilled to announce that I've received an offer from the University of North Carolina!” Devin posted on X.
Devin, a member of the class of 2026, is a 6-foot-2, 195 pound prospect who will play in Brophy College preparations in Phoenix. He is thought Three-star recruits by ESPN.
In addition to UNC, where 72-year-old Belichick enters his first season, Devin has received offers from Arizona, Duke, UCLA, Pittsburgh and Fitzgerald's alma mater.
Elder Fitzgerald, 41, played a wide receiver in two seasons (2002-03) for Pittsburgh before becoming third overall for the Cardinals in the 2004 NFL Draft.
The former Walter Payton Man of the Year winner spent his entire 17 years in Arizona, and was selected for the 11th Pro Bowl in 2008 and was named the 1st Team All-Pro.
Playing his final season in 2020, Fitzgerald finished his prolific career with 1,432 receptions for 17,492 yards and 121 touchdowns.
Just as Fitzgerald focuses on Devin's future, Belichick is trapped in his AT.
The legendary NFL coach joined the Tar Heels in December after breaking up with the Patriots last January, following 24 seasons and six Super Bowl wins.
The practice began earlier this week, and Belichick compared his program to an NFL Rookie Minicamp program.
“It's similar to what the rookie minicamp is, how time you spend with rookies. Certainly those kids are a little older, but they come from all different programs and different situations,” he told reporters Wednesday.
“So, it's starting to put it all together. Here's how we do it. Here's what our expectations are. This is what you need to succeed. They've accepted it, they tried to do it.”
Belichick signed a five-year contract with UNC in January. He ended his $10 million contract with the university before June 1st.
