Bill Maher claims the left pushed Joe Rogan and Musk toward conservatism.

On a recent episode of the “Club Random” podcast, Bill Maher discussed the unintended consequences of the progressive left’s actions, suggesting they might be pushing former allies toward the right. He spoke with Canadian sex researcher and neuroscientist Dr. Debra So, whose book, *The End of Gender*, has sparked significant debate within liberal circles due to her criticisms of gender ideology and concerns about medical transitions for minors.

Dr. So expressed her frustration over the denial of scientific perspectives, emphasizing that even basic biological truths are seen as controversial now. Maher, visibly surprised, observed that it’s baffling how a straightforward thinker like So has become ostracized in progressive groups, noting that to some, she’s perceived as a right-wing figure.

So articulated that her views, which include a stance against unnecessary medical procedures for young girls, should be seen as common sense. Maher connected this to a broader commentary about the modern Democratic Party, stating that the more radical factions have inadvertently alienated individuals who were once seen as liberal icons, such as Joe Rogan and Elon Musk, pushing them towards conservatism.

Despite sounding like a conservative at times, Maher clarified he rejects the label of “right-wing.” He asserted that he feels compelled to call out what he sees as societal absurdities, even if it aligns him somewhat with conservative viewpoints. He noted that societal craziness, like the rise of Donald Trump, is a reflection of prevailing issues.

Both Maher and So criticized the left’s propensity to dismiss traditional views and expert opinions, suggesting that this denigration leads to experts finding refuge in conservative media, subsequently being labeled as right-wing simply due to their appearances on those platforms. So humorously pointed out how stating “women don’t have penises” could provoke outrage in today’s discourse.

Interestingly, So mentioned she experiences more openness within conservative circles, grateful for the kindness she encounters there. When asked if she experiences the political divide personally, So confirmed that it extends into social contexts, indicating how deeply entrenched these ideological splits are in American society.
