HBO host Bill Maher reinforced his prediction that Vice President Kamala Harris will win the 2024 election, but also warned Democrats on a podcast that “Trumpism” will continue no matter who wins the election.
“I thought she was amazing. [during the debate] “I couldn't be more excited and I'm willing to bet that Kamala will win the election,” he said.“Club Random” Podcast on sunday.
“I understand that. [former President] “Trump will fade away after this. I think we've finally reached the Joe McCarthy stage where people are fed up with it… but Trumpism is not going to go away,” Maher predicted.
The liberal host, who frequently denounces the “woke” left, argued that the left's “insanity” on issues of gender, race and free speech is alienating average Americans.

He argued that unless Democrats condemn these extreme views, “Trumpism” will continue.
“I define 'Trumpism' as the fear of far-left insanity, which is not completely unfounded, and therefore anyone is better than that. Trump proves that by being 'anyone.' If Trump is okay, if he is, despite his monstrosity, still better than what the left fears, then that is a problem the left has to address,” Maher said.
“Unless they solve that problem, they're always going to have someone like Trump coming in,” he continued.
“They believe the other side is an existential threat, and because the other side has given them enough ammunition to believe it, they think they can justify anything,” he said of Republicans who support Trump.

The “Real Time” host was the first to declare after the presidential debate that Trump had lost the election.
“Tonight I'm going to say this: I think it's over,” Maher said, drawing cheers from the liberal audience.

“Even before we were born, in the early '50s, there was this guy named Joe McCarthy, and he ran America. For a couple of years he was the biggest name, and then it just kind of felt like 'dog eat dog,' and here we are today.”
