“Real Time” host Bill Maher was quick to dismiss journalists' growing number of excuses for Vice President Kamala Harris' crushing loss to President-elect Donald Trump.

during friday night Online “overtime” segmentABC News contributor Sarah Isgar said Harris was “set up to fail” by Democrats when she was given a “three-month campaign” to “introduce herself to the American people.” he claimed.

“Are you saying three months isn't enough?” Maher asked. “It's been long enough. It's not like they didn't have time for introductions. They met someone and they didn't like that person.”

MSNBC analyst John Heilemann also defended Harris, arguing that she is in the difficult position of being vice president of an unpopular figure like President Biden.

“Bill, I don't know if you know this, but the vice president of the United States has basically been shoved into a broom closet for three and a half years,” Heilemann said.

“I know, but she was more popular there,” Maher said jokingly. “Do you ever think that in the age of mass media, 107 days is not enough to know someone?”

The Harris campaign reportedly spent six figures on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, which has fewer than 1 million views on YouTube.

Moments later, Mr. Maher turned to the audience and asked if they didn't know enough about Harris “to make a decision after a week.”

“No way!” cried Maher. “We're just tired of them!”

“Why do you have to give her this excuse?'' Maher asked. “All this week was people saying, 'Oh, she ran a perfect campaign,' or, 'Oh, that's ridiculous,' or, 'That's racist.' This is an old playbook! ”

Mr. Heilemann countered, “I didn't say anything like that.''

“I know that, but I've heard this a lot,” Maher continued. “I think America is totally motivated to elect women. I just didn't like the last two people mentioned.”

The HBO host later added, “She didn't make a good case. She didn't condemn things in the past that people didn't like. She just tried to ignore it.”
