On Friday night, the “Real Time” host said he had no intention of “pre-hating” the new administration and said President Trump was right about how the Russia-Ukraine war needs to be “negotiated.” I admitted it.

“They call themselves 'destroyers,'” Maher said. “This country needs chaos. I mean, this country needs colonialism and a slap in the face.

“This is not the person I would choose to run the colonies, but that doesn't mean we don't have a bloated bureaucracy. It doesn't mean we don't have $36 trillion in debt. People deserve a better life. It's not like there aren't thousands of regulations that prevent us from doing nothing. We're waking up to the military. Whatever they're going to do…I'm not going to abhor anything in advance.” said.

“Do I have really good, optimistic feelings about it? No, I don't. I'm not going to be pre-disgusting. I can't get into that mind.[set]. Let's see what the destroyer can do. “Because, frankly, the experts are like, we've left something for too long and now it's just sclerosis and constipation,” he continued.

Ma expressed skepticism about how effective the “disruptors” would be if the “corn lobby,” “pharmaceutical industry,” and “defense contractors” began to push back against the administration's policies.

“We'll see what happens,” Maher said.

He also acknowledged that President Trump's approach to resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict was correct.

The remarks came after the Biden administration's decision to allow Ukraine to use U.S.-made missiles against Russia raised concerns about potential escalation by the Kremlin.

“As much as I hate to admit it, President Trump said at the outset that everyone seems to agree that there will be a negotiated solution. Marco Rubio said — he will be secretary of state.” said Maher. “And I feel like they're losing the war, Ukraine. And they're noble and we certainly support them in spirit, but we're just like we've always been. Should I do it?”

Maher went on to liken the war to last week's boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

“I remember a week ago, when I was leaving here, everyone was talking about it. 'Oh, what's going to happen?' And then you watch the game and you realize — we're brainless. The rational part of him knew all along that the 58-year-old man who was over the hill in the '90s wasn't going to win this fight. [27]-year old behemoth. Still, we were all like, “Maybe, oh, let's go home and take a look!” Maher said.
