Bill O’Reilly Mocks James Carville for Worrying That Trump Will Interfere in Midterms

O’Reilly Mocks Carville’s Concerns Over Trump and Martial Law

Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly humorously targeted Democratic strategist James Carville on Wednesday. Carville expressed concerns that President Donald Trump might declare martial law to influence the 2026 midterm elections.

During an appearance on “Cuomo,” Carville shared that Democrats are optimistic about winning the upcoming races for governor in Virginia and New Jersey this November. He suggested that if Democrats achieve a significant victory, Trump could react by declaring a “national emergency,” potentially disrupting the midterm elections.

O’Reilly responded to Carville’s fears by jesting about leaving the country, stating his plan to buy a condo in Luxembourg if such extreme measures were on the table. He emphasized, “I don’t think that will happen,” and suggested that Carville was employing “terrifying tactics” to promote fear.

He argued that the state of the economy will ultimately impact the midterm elections. O’Reilly expressed confidence, saying, “I’m not worried about fraud or anything like that. I think the economy will dictate the results. If people have more money, small businesses will thrive, and consumer spending will increase.” He pointed out that the wealthy tend to spend more on luxury items when economic conditions improve.

Currently, Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” faces challenges in the House after several House Republicans chose not to unite for immediate action. The Senate had previously approved the bill, with a narrow vote of 51 to 50, but some Republican senators, including those from North Carolina and Maine, opposed the legislation.
