Billie Eilish Needs to Give Back Grammy Won on 'Stolen Land'

Senator Calls for Billie Eilish’s Grammy to be Returned

A Republican senator expressed on Thursday that Billie Eilish’s recent Grammy Award should be returned, stating it was won “on stolen land.”

In an interaction with journalist Nicholas A. Barassy, Senator Eric Schmidt (R-Missouri) shared his perspective on the Grammy Awards held last Sunday. When asked about the appropriateness of celebrity anti-ICE messages, Schmidt had a straightforward reply.

“There can’t be a Grammy on stolen land. So I think Billie Eilish should get her Grammy back, and maybe her mansion on stolen land. It’s ridiculous. These people seem completely disconnected from reality, so anything goes,” he said.

These remarks followed Eilish’s political statements during her acceptance speech for Song of the Year, as reported by Breitbart News.

While accepting the award, Eilish wore an anti-ICE pin that read “ICE Out.” In her speech, she briefly thanked no one and stated, “No one is an illegal alien in stolen land.”

“It’s really hard to know what to say and what to do right now… We just have to keep fighting and speaking out and protesting. Our voices really matter, and people matter,” she continued, adding, “And fuck ICE. That’s all I have to say: I’m sorry. Thank you so much.”

Her comments received backlash, particularly noted by Breitbart News for her legal actions against an individual who broke into her home. One user questioned Eilish’s stance by saying, “Billie Eilish lives on stolen land and won’t give it back, and no one is illegally living on stolen land. So why does she keep going to court to prevent people from trespassing on stolen land?”

Moreover, the Tongva tribe claims that Eilish’s mansion in Los Angeles is situated on their ancestral land, according to John Nolte from Breitbart News.

A spokesperson for the tribe stated, “As Native Americans of the greater Los Angeles Basin area, we understand that her home is on our ancestral lands. Eilish has not contacted our tribe directly regarding her property. We value the opportunity for public figures to reveal the true history of this nation.”

The spokesperson added, “We hope to be able to clearly mention this tribe in future discussions so that the public understands that the Greater Los Angeles Basin remains the territory of Gabrieleno Tongva.”
