Billie Price announces NFL retirement after surgery for clot

Billy Price has announced that he is ending his NFL career due to health concerns.

The 29-year-old athlete wrote on social media: post He underwent emergency surgery in April.

“I’m really thankful to be alive today.”

“In an instant, everything can be lost,” Price said. “On April 24th, I underwent emergency pulmonary embolism surgery to remove saddle clots that had invaded both of my lungs. As a healthy 29-year-old, the thought of a pulmonary embolism with no known medical explanation is terrifying.”

“I am incredibly grateful to be alive today. Unfortunately, the risk of internal bleeding while on blood thinners is enormous so I will be retiring from the NFL,” he said.

Price previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals. NFL.comHe recently Worked on Dallas Cowboys practice squad.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to play in the best atmosphere in the world, and I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to train and play alongside players who continue to make Pro Bowl, All-Pro rosters and Hall of Fame inductees,” Price said. “To my wife, this career would not have been possible without your continued love and support. The sacrifices you have made throughout my career will never be forgotten, and I can’t wait to embark on this next chapter in life with you as we grow our family.”
