Stephen Krubeck Evicts Eric Swalwell Amid Allegations
Billionaire Stephen Krubeck, who previously ran for governor in California, is reportedly evicting Congressman Eric Swalwell from his mansion. This decision follows multiple accusations of sexual misconduct against Swalwell, leading Krubeck to demand the return of $1 million in donations he made to support Swalwell’s gubernatorial campaign.
Krubeck has referred to Swalwell as his “little brother” in past interviews but has now expressed his intention to cut ties with him and other Democrats over recent scandalous allegations involving a female staffer. In a rather frank statement, he remarked, “I no longer support Eric. Tell everyone I’m a Libertarian. I’m already a Libertarian.”
This shift in sentiment seems to have emerged after Swalwell posted a video from Krubeck’s Beverly Hills home, which raised suspicions about past incidents of sexual misconduct by the congressman. Since this, more than 50 former staffers have come forward, prompting calls for Swalwell’s resignation and an ongoing investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office related to a particular incident following a gala in New York.
Key House Democratic leaders are also urging Swalwell to withdraw his candidacy for governor, emphasizing the need for a swift investigation into the allegations. They stated, “Following the deeply disturbing sexual assault allegations against Congressman Eric Swalwell, we call for a swift investigation into these incidents.”
In response to these events, Swalwell announced on Sunday that he “deeply regrets the errors of judgment I have made in the past” and formally suspended his campaign. However, he maintains that the allegations are “false,” asserting that his fight against them is separate from his political aspirations.
Krubeck, who briefly participated in the gubernatorial race before backing Swalwell, reportedly spent over $1 million on his campaign and regularly hosted him at his luxurious mansion. Krubeck has now stated that while Swalwell is evicted, he plans to consult a lawyer regarding the return of his contributions. He also expressed a strong disillusionment with the Democratic Party, declaring he will change his party affiliation.
When asked if he believed Swalwell was truthful, Krubeck only stated, “That’s something we’ll have to look into. I don’t know the answer to that.”
