Montecito’s Unique Pig Collection
In Montecito, a place often associated with celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Meghan Markle, some homes have neighbors that are… well, a bit on the unconventional side.
Locally dubbed the “pig sty,” one home holds an impressive collection that lives up to its name. There are around 6,000 pig figurines scattered throughout the property. They watch visitors with grins, practically demanding attention. A pig-shaped grill sits in the backyard, manned by a pig chef, creating an almost whimsical restaurant vibe. Inside, the obsession only intensifies; every nook and cranny is stuffed with pig-themed items, even in the bathroom.
This is no ordinary collection.
While some neighbors have publicly questioned the necessity of such a display, others have taken matters into their own hands, reportedly snatching parts of the collection. Yet, the owner, Nikki Grosso, seems unbothered by the complaints.
This fascination began years ago when Grosso received a pig figurine as a gift for her husband, a police officer. What started as one small pig has since transformed into a decades-long obsession that fills her home. Each piece carries its own story and sentiment, especially following her husband’s passing, turning the collection into a tender memorial. Tourists can’t help but slow down and capture the quirky sight. In a neighborhood that typically showcases refined elegance, this home certainly stands out.
However, change might be on the horizon. Grosso plans to sell the house soon, and with it, the pigs will likely be auctioned off individually.
Until then, this delightful yet chaotic pig sanctuary continues to thrive—an embodiment of character and eccentricity that adds a dash of confusion to the town of Montecito.
