Tampa Bay Buccaneers Struggle in Loss to Buffalo Bills
At one point this season, it seemed like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were set to claim the NFC South title. However, following a high-scoring defeat against the Buffalo Bills, they now find themselves in a rough patch, losing three out of their last four games.
The latest loss came as the team struggled to contain Josh Allen, the reigning NFL MVP, who showcased his skills by throwing three touchdowns and rushing for three more, accumulating 317 passing yards in the process. The Bills secured a 44-32 victory, marking a significant win for them.
As a result, Tampa Bay’s record slipped to 6-4, placing them just one game behind the Carolina Panthers, who improved to 6-5 after beating the Atlanta Falcons earlier in the day. Meanwhile, the Bills celebrated their seventh victory of the season and are now two games behind the New England Patriots in the AFC East standings.
The game itself—well, it was a wild affair with nine lead changes. Baker Mayfield, who was drafted in the same year as Allen, managed to score once through the air and once on the ground, but it wasn’t enough to clinch a win.
Allen’s impressive performance came shortly after the Bills decided to bench wide receiver Keon Coleman, who had faced challenges in recent games. The move seemed to pay off, as Buffalo’s offense looked sharp, with Allen’s touchdown passes averaging 25 yards.
With a little over nine minutes left in the game, Allen had a decisive 5-yard touchdown run that pushed the Bills ahead. Although Tampa Bay had possession with under two minutes to go, Mayfield was sacked and fumbled, which effectively ended their chances of a comeback.
This marked a big turnaround for the Bills, who had experienced a disappointing loss to the Miami Dolphins just the previous week, scoring only 13 points. Now, they head to Houston for a Thursday night matchup.
As for the Buccaneers, they will face a tough challenge next week, traveling across the country to take on the Los Angeles Rams.
