Bills’ Dion Dawkins chirps Patrick Mahomes ahead of playoff rematch

The Bills finally have Patrick Mahomes home.

And they're doing some chirping.

“(Mahomes) has only been here once. I mean, he's never been here. It's simple,” Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins said. According to ESPN. “The Pats have never been to Bills Stadium full. … The environment will be different and I can't say it's an advantage for us, but the stadium is an advantage for us. The stadium is us. That's it. It helps us, we don't care what anyone says.

“This is the most despicable feeling I've ever had. Two straight playoff games at home. Now go ahead and go eat some wings. Cool. So lucky.”

Sports history is full of “when staying real doesn't work” moments, and Dawkins may come to regret these comments Sunday night.

For now, the Bills are confident going into their first home game against Mahomes and the Chiefs in a postseason rivalry of the 2020s.

Not only will it be Mahomes' first time away against the Bills during the playoffs on Sunday, it will also be his first game at a packed Highmark Stadium.

During the 2020 COVID-19 season, Bills Mafia was unable to attend the game as the Chiefs defeated the Bills 26-17 at Orchard Park.

This will be the third time in the past four years that the two teams have met in the playoffs, with the Chiefs winning the first two.

Kansas City defeated Buffalo 38-24 in the 2021 AFC Championship Game, but lost to the Buccaneers in the Super Bowl.

A year later, the Chiefs escaped with a 42-36 overtime victory in the district round, joining a long list of Bills' heartbreaks in the playoffs.

With just 13 seconds to go for the win, the Bills allowed Mahomes to make a game-tying field goal even though there was no timeout.

Mahomes then scored the game-clinching touchdown by Travis Kelce (not yet Taylor Swift's boyfriend) in overtime after the Chiefs won the toss.

Sunday will be a rare example of Mahomes being the underdog.

Buffalo remains the favorite on FanDuel with a 2.5 point lead over the Chiefs. FanDuel has the tightest spread of the four divisional round games, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. ET.
