ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Will Lutz got a do-over as time expired, kicking a 36-yard field goal and the Denver Broncos battled back with a 24-22 lead to win their third straight game against the turnover-heavy Buffalo Bills. . Monday night.
Lutz had a second chance after missing to the right from 41 yards with 4 seconds left, but Buffalo was flagged for having 12 players on the field and the play was nullified.
Lutz also overcame his own struggles in the game in which he missed an extra point by hitting the left upright, but was unable to convert another extra point attempt as holder Riley Dixon bumbled the snap.
After Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen ran out from 6 yards out to give the Bills their first and only lead, Russell Wilson oversaw a 10-play, 57-yard drive that set up Lutz’s field goal.
The key play on this drive occurred on third down and Buffalo’s 45-10. When Wilson was facing an all-out attack, he lobbed a pass deep up the middle to Jerry Jeudy, but defensive back Taron Johnson clearly intercepted it.
Johnson was flagged for pass interference, giving Denver the ball on Buffalo’s 17.
The Broncos (4-5) have won three straight and four of six since losing 70-20 at Miami.
The Bills turned the ball over four times and fell to 5-5 after Allen threw two interceptions and lost a fumble.
