Josh Allen Prioritizes Fatherhood Over Football

In a recent statement, NFL quarterback Josh Allen shared that being a father has become his top priority, even outshining his successful football career.

As the Buffalo Bills quarterback, Allen has blossomed into one of the league’s premier talents over the past eight seasons. He’s secured four Pro Bowl spots and was honored as the Associated Press MVP in 2024. The Bills recorded five division championships and made the playoffs in seven of those eight years. However, for Allen, family takes precedence now.

He and his wife, actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld, are expecting their first child.

During a press conference last week, Allen discussed the challenges of stepping into fatherhood amid the offseason. This includes recovering from a foot injury and adapting to a new offensive strategy under coach Joe Brady.

“I have a brother with kids and many friends who are parents. I mean, I can’t really plan too far ahead, but my wife and I are genuinely excited about being parents,” Allen remarked. “It’s something I take immense pride in, and like anything else, we’ll figure it out as we go.”

He emphasized, “This is the most important role in my life—being a father. I love my job as the quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, but I’m also really looking forward to this new chapter.”

Allen has previously highlighted his evolving perspective on life outside of football. In 2023, he indicated a “spiritual awakening” following the traumatic incident when his teammate Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field and required CPR during a widely broadcast game.

As Allen said in the aftermath, “It sparked a spiritual awakening for me, and I believe for many others who may not have had the strongest faith.” He admitted, “I’ve struggled with commitment in my faith throughout my life, but that moment was so powerful I couldn’t ignore it.”
