Maxwell Hairston’s Legal Troubles Amid NFL Journey
Maxwell Hairston’s dream of playing in the NFL began to materialize when the Buffalo Bills selected him in the first round of the draft in April, coming out of Kentucky. But as Hairston gears up for his first training camp, he’s facing serious legal issues. A lawsuit has been filed against him, alleging sexual misconduct that dates back to his time as a student-athlete in 2021.
This lawsuit was filed on Tuesday in federal court in Kentucky, as reported by the Associated Press. The accuser is an Ohio woman who, coincidentally, lived in the same dorm as Hairston while attending the University of Kentucky back in 2021.
Fox News Digital attempted to reach out to Hairston’s representatives for comment but was unable to connect.
The lawsuit accuses Hairston of entering the dorm room uninvited. It states that the woman reported multiple instances of sexual encounters, which she then claims escalated to sexual assault, alleging that she was forcibly undressed.
The Bills have remained tight-lipped on the situation. Brandon Bean, the team’s general manager, alluded to the ongoing investigation into the alleged incident back in April, suggesting that the player was perceived as a “perfect child.” Yet, Bean acknowledged the shame associated with such accusations, expressing disbelief that there might be any truth to them.
Hairston, who played three seasons for Kentucky, is vying for a cornerback position this season. After completing mandatory practices in mid-June, he is scheduled to start training camp later this month, but now enters it with these heavy allegations hanging over him.
