Changpeng Zhao on Bitcoin’s Future
Changpeng Zhao, the co-founder and former CEO of Binance, has made a bold prediction that Bitcoin may reach seven figures during the current bull market.
This bull cycle has seen significant fluctuations, including a remarkable rise in Bitcoin value, which first crossed the $100,000 mark in December of the previous year and peaked at $109,300 on January 20.
However, following a decline from that peak, Zhao has adjusted his optimistic forecast. He now anticipates that Bitcoin could potentially surge to between $500,000 and $1 million during this cycle.
More Bitcoin Milestones
Zhao shared his price predictions during a discussion on a Rugradio podcast with founder Farokh Sarmad. When asked where he envisioned Bitcoin’s price would land by the end of this bull market, he mentioned that it could reach significant heights, perhaps even $1 million.
Interestingly, this isn’t Zhao’s first time making such predictions. Back in February, during a market downturn, he had speculated that Bitcoin could hit $1 million before retracting to around $985,000. Yet, he hadn’t specified a timeline until his recent podcast appearance.
If Bitcoin were to hit that price target, it would mean a substantial rally from its current market price of $94,457, which implies a staggering 959% increase. Additionally, Bitcoin’s market capitalization reached $19.8 trillion, approaching gold’s valuation of over $22 trillion.
Zhao also expects the global cryptocurrency market to reach $5 trillion by year-end. His viewpoint hints that this bull cycle could extend beyond 2025, which he considers might be the last year of this bullish trend, based on historical patterns.
While Bitcoin’s rise to $1 million is anticipated, it appears that Zhao’s outlook is much sooner compared to others. Notably, Dr. Murray Rudd and Dennis Porter from the Satoshi Action Fund have projected this milestone for January 2027, while Cathy Wood from Swan Bitcoin has estimated it could happen by 2030.
No New Pets on the Horizon for CZ
Zhao also touched on his experience with meme coins early this year. He shared a picture of his dog, Broccoli, in February, igniting a wave of meme-related excitement.
Admitting his unfamiliarity with how meme coins operate, he said he shared the photo out of popular demand. Although he enjoyed the interaction, he clarified that he has no plans to adopt another dog soon.
Moreover, he dispelled rumors regarding his intent to divest from Binance.us amid a presidential pardon endeavor. He clarified that he hadn’t reached out to President Donald Trump directly but confirmed that he applied for a presidential pardon. However, he emphasized that he would not return as Binance’s CEO.
