WATERBURY, Conn. — The biological mother of a Connecticut horror house victim said it was “nausea” when he met his evil stepmother, as he revealed he hadn't reunited with his son yet.
Tracy Vallerand was in court on Friday – the second time this week – Kimberly Sullivan pleaded guilty to allegedly locking and torture her 32-year-old step-son for more than 20 years.
“[Wednesday] It was the first time I'd looked at her, but it was nauseating,” Vallarland said earlier this week in Sullivan's first court date post in Waterbury. “They have the right to admit innocence, but the evidence proves that it is not.”
The stoic mother, who has not seen her son since resigning from school at age 10, vowed to attend all court hearings.
“I need to see justice done for my son. If he can't be here, I will,” she said.
Vallerand said her son was kept in a “non-public location” and police told her that no one had access to him during the investigation into his decades of alleged abuse.
She said she gave up the boy due to “personal issues” and believes he is living a better life with Sullivan and his father.
Valleland had no clue that Sullivan allegedly locked the boy into a small room inside a dirty Waterbury home for over 20 years.
The now 32-year-old victim was only 68 pounds when rescued by firefighters on February 17 after setting the house on a desperate bid to finally escape Sullivan's clutch.
“I wanted my own freedom,” he told authorities.
Valleland, who lives in Meriden, just 15 miles from Waterbury, said she and her family tried in vain to find the boy.
“My daughter and I were looking for him. The only thing you could find was a birth record. There was no record of death, so there was no reason to believe it,” Valleland said.
Vallerand pointed his finger at Sullivan, saying, “The whole family was denied access to him.”
“All parents are supposed to provide, nurture and support them in becoming decent people.
Vallarland saw Sullivan being allowed to remain on bail on Friday and publicly declared her innocence despite the judge calling charges. The biological mom tightened the bolts from the court once the proceedings were finished.
Later on Friday, the evil stepmother was found in a post on an outer pouch wearing a bucket hat and sunglasses, scrolling through her phone, enjoying the sun.
Prosecutors tried to put her in prison, saying that the victim, who has not been publicly identified, lives in constant “fear.”
Ominous details of the real-life horror story were revealed earlier this month in court documents. This claimed that the victim was stored in an 8 x 9 feet “back storage space” closed from the outside. He told officers in a lengthy interview that he could be eaten to eat two sandwiches a day and needed to soften himself on a water bottle or a newspaper.
The shocking horror story was revealed last month when a locked 8 x 9-foot room was burned to fire, calling Sullivan to 911, leading to rescue.
By the time he was rescued, the victim had either not properly showered in two years or the three had not had a haircut, authorities said.
Prosecutors said he was weakened when he was finally rescued and “similar to the survivors of Auschwitz's death camp.”
Sullivan, who posted a $300,000 bail shortly after his arrest, repeatedly said Denied allegations of illness.
“I understand that the whole world wants to convict Ms Sullivan and the whole world,” her lawyer, Ionis Caroujis, told the court on Friday after claiming she opposed her bail conditions.
“But this is the only place, the only room and we have to protect her rights.”
“She is presumed innocent,” he continued, adding, “by adding conditions, the court is sending a message that she did something wrong.”
