A bipartisan group of Congressional lawmakers is introducing legislation claiming to enhance border security by identifying and tracking potential terrorists before they arrive in their US homeland.
“Border security does not begin or end at borders. Around the world, individuals with ties to terrorist organizations pose undiscounted threats to their homeland,” D-Calif said in a release provided to Fox News Digital. “Our constituents rely on DHS and their partners long before we identify these threats and pose specific threats to the communities we represent.”
Correa will be joined by Rep. Morgan Lutrell, R-Texas, to introduce the Syrian Terrorist Threat Assessment Act. This will require an assessment of the threat of terrorism to the US homeland where the recent change of government could potentially be derived from Syria.

The law took control of nearly 25 years just two months after Syrian opposition groups overthrew longtime leader Bashar Assad.
The shocking attack on Assad was led by Heiat Taharil al-Sham or HTS, a Muslim group with ties to al-Qaeda, listed by the US government as a terrorist organization. Ahmad Alshara, one of the group's leaders, became the interim leader of the country's new government, leading to concerns about the country's future political direction.

Luttrell said the new law, scheduled to be voted on Tuesday at the House Homeland Security Committee, requires the DHS to “require Syrian individuals to assess threats tied to foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs) or specially designated global terrorist organizations (STGTs).
