The stock of Bitmine Immersion Technology surged by over 400% on Monday after it was announced that the company had secured $250 million through private arrangements to establish the Ethereum Treasury Department.

This funding rounds included contributions from notable crypto firms like Founders Fund, Pantera, Galaxy Digital, and Kraken. Additionally, Bitmine recruited Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee as its board chairman.

“This investment brings together top-tier investors from traditional finance and crypto venture capital, which reflects how quickly traditional financial services and cryptocurrency are merging,” Lee remarked in a statement.

Private placements involved the sale of over 55 million shares at a price of $4.50 each, with the net proceeds earmarked for the Ethereum Treasury Department.

Why is Bitmine focusing on Ethereum? The announcement underlined “protocol-level activity” taking place on the Ethereum network, covering aspects like decentralized finance, staking, and stablecoins as critical functions.

“One of Bitmine’s future goals is to enhance the value of ETH per share, which could be achieved by reinvesting the company’s cash flow and engaging in capital market activities,” he explained.

Bitmine will also engage with Sharplink Games, participating in the broader trend of establishing Bitcoin’s Treasury as a public financial vehicle for Ethereum. Thus far, Sharplink has added over 188,000 ETH, valued at more than $460 million at current rates.

Bitmine shares closed at $4.26 on Friday, but they skyrocketed by 447% to $23.35 by Monday morning.
