Dominique Alexander expressed his feelings regarding a recent press conference involving Austin Metcalf’s father and Carmelo Anthony’s family. This gathering came in the wake of Anthony being accused of murdering Metcalf, who was reportedly stabbed during a high school track event.
It seems that initially, both Alexander and Anthony’s parents were unaware that Jeff Metcalf was present at the conference.
“I turned to look at him, assuming he did not need to move. At that moment, we didn’t even recognize him,” Alexander shared.
He informed others present that they were in the company of Austin’s father.
It has been reported that Anthony admitted to the crime before asking law enforcement about the possibility of claiming self-defense.
Alexander expressed his disbelief, stating, “I know you’re lying. This cannot be right.” He insisted on securing the venue because of concerns regarding the situation.
Activists voiced their intention to remove Metcalf from the event without hesitation.
When queries arose about security and the involvement of Dallas police officers, Alexander seemed frustrated with Metcalf, mentioning how he didn’t leave despite requests.
“We asked him to leave multiple times, and he remained silent. He seemed to think he could just stand there. That feels completely wrong! It was really distressing for me,” Alexander noted, adding that Metcalf did not appear to have good intentions, given his refusal to engage.
Alexander clarified that the press conference was primarily about addressing the funds raised for Anthony’s family and their usage, rather than any confrontation.
The incident involving Anthony began when Austin Metcalf and his twins confronted him to vacate their space, leading to the fatal stabbing.
At the time of his arrest, it was noted that Anthony confessed to the incident but questioned whether he could claim self-defense.
