A 3-year-old girl was attacked by a black bear while inside a tent at a campsite near Yellowstone National Park, Montana authorities said.
The incident, which happened late Sunday night in Red Lodge, forced the evacuation of a private campground, according to the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP).
“The bear attacked a child who was inside a tent,” authorities said. He said in a statement. The victim was taken to a medical facility in Billings, it added. Further information about her condition was not immediately available.
FWP later announced that a black bear was “captured and euthanized” at the scene, and said they believe it was the bear “involved in the incident.”
