As Black History Month begins, prominent conservative groups feel the Republican Party is the party that gives black communities “access to the American Dream.”
“The Democratic Party is not the party of the Black community, but the Republican Party is the party of the Black community,” Deante Johnson, CEO of the Black Conservative Coalition, told Fox News Digital.

The 2024 BCF Honors Gala, themed “Restoring the American Dream,” will be held in South Carolina on February 23, the night before the state’s primary election. The gala celebrates Black History Month with leaders of the movement. The black tie event is usually held in Washington, D.C., but this year it will head to Columbia, South Carolina, where Prime Minister Johnson feels the black vote is critical to President Trump’s efforts to retake the White House.
“The Black vote is important to President Trump and his re-election because Black people are a forgotten community,” Johnson said. “In 2020, President Trump won 20% of the Black male vote…we believe that will increase significantly.”
Johnson said he felt a small number of black voters switching from Biden to Trump could sway the 2024 election, explaining that he believes people are fed up with the current administration. .

“We’re hearing what the Black community is actually saying. They thought Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were going to be something different. I thought the grass was greener…it was, in fact, worse,” Johnson said.
“They saw that Kamala Harris was nowhere to be found. They saw that Joe Biden didn’t know what was going on and wasn’t doing anything for the black community. But… The black community said, “Listen, we don’t care.” “As for racial issues. We care about economic issues,” he continued. “Under Donald Trump, no matter what he said, no matter what he did, no matter what he tweeted, we were in a better place economically, and that’s what the Black community is paying attention to. ”

Johnson said the Black Conservative Coalition has conducted internal research that shows that while the economy is the No. 1 issue for Black voters, education is also a priority for Black voters.
“Black men hate it when their children are taught that they don’t have to be a boy, they don’t have to be a girl, that they can choose their own gender. “I don’t like being taught that way. It’s woke me up,” he said. “Black families don’t want their kids learning about the LGBT community in fourth grade.”
Johnson believes that since the last election, the Democratic Party has become more extreme on these issues and that more black voters should move to the right.
“This is not the same Democratic Party as it was in 2020 or the year before. It’s gotten worse. It’s unfortunate because it was worse in 2020, but it’s gotten even worse since President Biden and Kamala Harris took over leadership. It’s just going down all the time,” Johnson said.
“We want to elevate the conservative movement by diversifying our membership and diversifying the individuals who work through the different factions of the party. We also advance the principles of conservatism,” he said. . “We can promote what it means to be a conservative, what it means to be a black conservative, what it means to America to have black conservatives. .”

Johnson said the Black Conservative Coalition is “doing everything we can” for Trump. This group is fully committed to spreading critical messages.
“I always tell people I’m a conservative because I believe that black lives matter, because the principles of conservatism are what will lift us out of poverty and educate people. Because it’s the only principle that can save us from the bondage of, you know, community looks good and makes sure we have access to the American dream,” Johnson said. “That’s our purpose.”

“They’re going to go to college… They’re going to take out loans. They’re going to pay off the loans themselves. They’re going to get decent jobs and become productive members of society. ” he added. “That’s the American dream, that’s the American way. And we have to get it back.”
