Allegations surfaced that blood stains were discovered in Nick Reiner’s hotel room shortly after an argument with his father, renowned director Rob Reiner, at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party, according to reports.
32-year-old Nick Reiner is currently being detained without bail, as authorities claim he murdered both his father and mother, Michelle Singer Reiner.
When staff members entered his hotel room late Sunday morning, they reportedly found the shower “full of blood” along with blood on the bed.
Earlier that night, before the tragic deaths of the Reiners in their Brentwood, California home, Nick Reiner’s behavior raised eyebrows among party guests. Two unnamed attendees shared their concerns, citing his history of drug abuse as a factor that made the situation more troubling.
One mentioned that a heated exchange occurred between Nick and his father, where Rob confronted his son about inappropriate behavior. Although he didn’t witness the argument firsthand, he noted that guests were anxious about Nick’s demeanor, observing he seemed agitated and uncomfortable.
A representative for Conan O’Brien declined to comment.
Nick checked into the Pierside Santa Monica Hotel at around 4 a.m. Sunday using a credit card, just hours after the dispute with his father. According to a witness, he seemed “unconscious” but displayed no signs of having participated in a violent altercation; there were no visible wounds on his body.
His hotel reservation was for a single day, but he never formally checked out. Late Sunday morning, hotel staff again found the conditions in his room alarming, with blood in the shower and on the bed, alongside curtains drawn with bed sheets.
LAPD detectives from the Robbery-Homicide division were reportedly at the hotel on Monday to gather evidence and interview staff. Nick was eventually located and arrested about 32 miles away in Exposition Park, near downtown Los Angeles.
He faced arrest Sunday night, following a call around 3:30 p.m. for medical assistance at his parents’ home, where their bodies were discovered.
Reports indicate that Nick Reiner is currently on suicide watch.
