Luke Bryan’s son encountered an injury on Friday while playing quarterback in a high school football match.
Thomas Boyer Bryan, commonly known as “Bo,” had to leave the game after landing awkwardly on his right shoulder during the first drive, as reported by The Tennessean. He was later seen on the sidelines with his arm in a sling while his Battle Ground Academy team faced off against Pope John Paul II Preparatory School in Tennessee.
Bo had an impressive season so far, throwing for 2,006 yards and 30 touchdowns, with just three interceptions across seven games, helping his team to a 6-1 record in his debut season as a starter.
After the game, Bo informed The Tennessean that he would be getting an X-ray. Coach Bobby Bentley shared, “I don’t know what we’re looking at yet. We’ll have to figure this thing out. That’s the challenge for us as a team and as coaches. What do we do? How do we do it? We’re going to figure it out.”
The next day on Instagram, Bo revealed to his followers that he had broken his collarbone. “Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We will be back,” he posted.
There hasn’t yet been a response from Bryan’s representatives regarding the incident. Recently, the country music star expressed how “super impressed” he was watching his son on the field. He said, “He’s learning as he goes; everything that happens to him this year, it’s the first time he’s faced all these pressure situations. Can’t be more proud as a dad.” He elaborated on the importance of hard work and commitment in sports, stressing how proud he is of Bo’s dedication to the game.
Luke and his wife, Caroline Boyer, are parents to two sons, Bo and Tatum “Tate” Christopher Bryan. Following the tragic passing of his sister Kelly and brother-in-law Ben Lee Cheshire, they took in Kelly and Ben’s three kids to raise alongside their own.
Reflecting on his own upbringing, Bryan shared the impact his father had on him, mentioning how he often finds himself sounding like his dad. He emphasized that as a parent, it’s crucial to uplift children on both their good and bad days, teaching them to be kind to themselves.
