Bobby Pulido peed on Trump's star and is now campaigning for Congress in Texas

Tejano Musician Bobby Pulido’s Controversial Past Resurfaces as He Runs for Congress

Tejano artist Bobby Pulido, known for his award-winning music, is back in the spotlight for an old video featuring him vandalizing President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This incident, which occurred almost ten years ago, has resurfaced as Pulido campaigns for a House seat in South Texas.

The footage, which he shared on Instagram, depicts Pulido urinating on the star with the sarcastic caption, “When you gotta go, you gotta go.”

Political Ambitions Amid Controversy

While Pulido presents himself as a bipartisan candidate, he has a history of staging bold protests against Trump and the Republican Party. He’s famous for Tejano hits like “Des Verado” and “Se Murio de Amor,” and he has received multiple Latin Grammy nominations, winning Best Tejano Album in both 2022 and 2025.

In 2024, he decided to leave his music career to pursue politics.

Pulido has filed to run for Congress in Texas’ 15th District, challenging incumbent Rep. Monica de la Cruz (R-Texas), who secured her seat in the last election with 57.1% of the vote against Democratic candidate Michelle Vallejo.

Pulido’s Campaign Narrative

During his campaign, Pulido introduced himself, saying, “You may know me as singer Bobby Pulido. I’m Jose Roberto Pulido Jr., a migrant farm worker and 100% Tejano son from South Texas. I won’t stand by and watch my community fall apart.”

He added, “I’m not Team Red or Team Blue. South Texas, I’m your team. I’ve spent decades using my voice to unite people, and now, I’ll use it to fight for our home.”

Reports suggest the Democratic Party has been actively recruiting him as a candidate.

In terms of fundraising, Pulido raised $306,000 in the third quarter for his campaign.

Interestingly, he has recently scrubbed some combative posts about Trump from his social media, including those related to the incident with the Hollywood star. Initially, Univision reported on the video but later removed the article.

Despite his controversial public persona, Pulido has demonstrated his opposition to Republicans in other notable ways. For instance, he faced backlash this year for wearing a costume related to Trump that some found distasteful.

In the past, Pulido also made headlines on social media, critiquing Texas voting patterns by labeling areas “blue = smart” and “red = neck.” He even shared a message urging people to support Democratic candidates, emphasizing the importance of voting.

As his campaign unfolds, it remains to be seen how these past actions will affect Pulido’s political aspirations. His team has not provided comments regarding these resurfaced incidents.
