Search for Missing Mississippi Teen Concludes After Body Found

The search for an 18-year-old teen from Mississippi, who went missing over the weekend, has ended following the discovery of a body that corresponds with his description. This was reported Monday morning by local officials.

Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter stated that the body was located in the waters near the northwestern edge of Horn Island around 8:45 a.m. Although the identity has not been officially confirmed, Sheriff Ledbetter mentioned that the details are “consistent with the description” of Nolan Xavier Wells.

The volunteer group United Cajun Navy announced later in the afternoon that they had suspended their search efforts. They expressed their condolences to Nolan’s family and those affected, indicating their appreciation for the trust the family placed in them during this difficult time.

According to officials, Wells was last seen on Independence Day while boating with friends. A photo shared by authorities captured him smiling with companions on that day.

In response to the tragic news, Wells’ mother, Christine Wonsley, reached out on social media, sharing the profound devastation felt by her family. “My heart aches for my beloved son, who always aimed to uplift others,” she expressed. She requested time for her family to mourn and reflected on how Nolan had a unique spirit that would be dearly missed.

Before the body was found, Wonsley had appealed for photos and videos from the Fourth of July to help piece together the last moments of Wells’ life.

Throughout this period of mourning, Wonsley and her family have also been vigilant about scams taking advantage of the situation, warning the public against fraudulent fundraising efforts that have emerged under the guise of supporting their cause.
