The body of an unidentified man was found Sunday off the northeast coast of the Greek capital, with a 22-pound barbell tied to his leg with a rope, according to the Greek coast guard.
Authorities were notified early Sunday afternoon of a body at Sinias Beach, near the town of Marathon.
Divers recovered the body about 110 yards from shore.

An ambulance took the man’s body to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities said he had been in the water for several days.

The man is believed to be between 40 and 45 years old. An autopsy will be carried out at a later date. Authorities near the port of Rafina are investigating.
