Bodycam footage shows moment NJ cop is stabbed in the face by madman

Body camera footage captured the horrifying moment a New Jersey police officer was stabbed in the face by a maniac Sunday night.

Two Galloway Township Police Department officers were sent to the residence around 8:30 p.m. after receiving several 911 calls.

Video released by the force on Monday shows Officers Eric Tarnow and Hunter Thomas approaching the front door, knocking, and being greeted by a woman.

The unidentified woman begins to explain that her son, Keith Kiminski, 30, was the cause of the constant phone calls.

“He has a knife,” the woman told Tarnov and Thomas, and one officer asked, “Where is he now?”

Before the woman could react, Kiminski lunged from behind her and pointed a folding pocket knife at the officers.

A police officer can be heard pleading, “Wait, wait, wait, stop right there,” as the man lunges at him with a knife.

Tarnow was stabbed in the right side of the face and then pushed Kiminski to the ground.

Tarnow and Thomas struggled with the 30-year-old man for several minutes until additional officers arrived on the scene.

Tarnow was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery for a deep cut on the side of his face. His condition is stable.

Kiminski was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and resisting arrest.

Thomas was treated for minor head injuries after the attack and released the same evening.

Kiminski is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and resisting arrest.

He is currently in custody pending a future court date, police said.

“This incident is yet another reminder of the dangers that police officers face on a daily basis,” Chief Richard D. Barber said in a statement.

“We are grateful that Officer Tarnow is recovering well and our department will provide Eric and his family with our full support.”
