Boise State star running back and Heisman Trophy finalist Ashton Giunty declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on Tuesday.
Giunty is coming off an incredible junior season in which he rushed for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns on the ground while helping Boise State reach the College Football Playoff.
“I am pleased to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft.” Gentil said in a statement: announces his decision. “The opportunity to play in the NFL is a dream of mine, and I'm proud to represent Boise State and all the people who have put me on the path to the next level.”
The 21-year-old back finished second in Heisman voting behind winner Travis Hunter, breaking Boise State's single-season rushing record of 1,823 yards set in 2014 by Jay Ajayi.
Giunty finished 27 yards shy of Barry Sanders' single-season FBS rushing record of 2,628 yards set in 1988.
In his last game with the Broncos, a loss to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl, Giunty gained 104 yards on 30 carries.
He will forgo his senior season by choosing to enter the draft.

The running back thanked Boise State, its fans and the community in an announcement posted on social media.
“I want to thank Boise State and the coaches for recruiting me and giving me the opportunity to show how great I am,” Giunty said. “What makes this place special is the community, and the support and love from Bronco Nation is unparalleled. Last but not least, to all my family and friends who have supported me throughout my college career. I would like to thank you.”
Giunty had an impressive second year in 2023, rushing for 1,347 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Before the Fiesta Bowl, Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson credited Giunty's success in college to Giunty's work ethic.
“He's a guy who's out on the snow, shirtless, playing tug-of-war with his teammates, running around the field. That's how he trains and he's built for that,” Danielson said. Ta. “Ash will be the first to say we need offensive line, tight ends and receivers. Blocking is a must on our team.”
Giunty is expected to be one of the top running back prospects in the upcoming draft, with Bleacher Report ranking him as the No. 1 running back in the 2025 class.
