Bold daytime theft at the Louvre reportedly filmed

Recently, new video surfaced, seemingly showing the notorious thieves during their daylight heist at the iconic Louvre Museum in Paris, which took place on Sunday.

French broadcaster BFMTV acquired this footage, labeling this incident as one of the boldest art thefts in recent times. The brief clip appears to capture an individual inside the Apollo Museum, where some of the Louvre’s most valuable treasures are housed.

In the video, recorded by an unidentified bystander, a person dressed in a bright yellow jacket can be seen next to a glass display case.

Authorities have stated that the robbery was executed with precise coordination, starting shortly after the museum opened to the public for the day. Around 9:30 a.m., the assailants allegedly used a basket lift to access the facade of the Louvre, forcing open a window at the Apollo Museum, home to the royal jewels.

The jewelry, stolen during this audacious act, reportedly belonged to the court of Napoleon III and included items from Empress Eugenie’s personal collection.

Tim Carpenter, a former FBI expert on art crimes, shared with Fox News Digital, “They broke through a window and did a really brazen thing. They move fast, they move quickly and with a purpose.”

French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez elaborated further on the heist, explaining that the thieves used specialized equipment, including a basket lift to access the museum and a disc cutter to break through the glass cases protecting the valuables.

In response to the robbery, the Ministry of Culture announced that an investigation has commenced, and they’re in the process of compiling a detailed list of the stolen items, noting that these objects not only hold substantial market value but also immense historical significance.

Following the incident, the Louvre was closed for further investigation, as authorities examined the area and reviewed surveillance footage. There hasn’t been any recent comment from the Louvre or the Ministry of Culture on the ongoing situation.
