Trump’s Immigration Policies Yield Historic Low Crossings
President Trump’s stringent border policies have resulted in the lowest number of immigrant crossings ever recorded.
In June, federal agents apprehended 6,070 immigrants at the US-Mexico border. Tom Homan, a prominent figure in Trump’s border enforcement efforts, noted this on social media.
“President Trump has established the safest borders in our history, and the numbers confirm this remarkable decline,” he claimed.
Homan remarked on the significant impact of Trump’s intense deportation strategy, suggesting that it effectively discouraged immigrants from attempting to cross the border.
He expressed gratitude towards the US Border Patrol, asserting that the suspension of interior enforcement measures would further deter illegal immigration. “The Trump Effect will keep benefiting America,” Homan added.
In contrast, he pointed to the Biden administration’s record of apprehending 180 immigrants in a single day, which he contrasted with the overwhelming influx of migrants during that period. More than 7,000 people had crossed into the US in the first two days of June 2024, surpassing last month’s total, according to Rodney Scott from the Customs and Border Patrol.
On one day alone, only 137 immigrants were caught making the crossing.
“That’s just one day in the Biden era. To put it plainly, our current figures are less than half of what was reported during many days under Biden’s administration,” he expressed. “Moreover, 6,070 individuals were not released into the United States.”
In June 2024, the CBP reported that over 83,000 immigrants crossed the border. This was a notable decrease from the more than 99,000 crossings in June 2023 and approximately 192,000 in June 2022.
Trump first registered a border record in February when 8,347 immigrants were reported crossing, as per government statistics.
“The world is taking notes on our clear message: borders are not open to those who break the law. Under Trump, our border patrol agents have the support to do their jobs effectively, ensuring the safety of Americans,” said Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem in a recent social media post.
