Border Patrol announces a new low of 95 crossings at the southern border in 24 hours.

Tom Homan, a key figure in the Trump administration, stated that the border patrol has achieved the safest border in U.S. history, citing just 95 illegal crossings in a single day. “In the last 24 hours, we’ve encountered a total of 95 illegal immigrants at the southern border,” Homan remarked on social media. He noted that this figure is significantly lower compared to the over 10,000 encounters per day reported during the Biden administration.

Homan criticized the Biden administration for releasing a large number of illegal immigrants, claiming that in May alone, 62,000 were let go. In contrast, he pointed out that under Trump, the figure for the same period was zero.

Interestingly, Homan described the current situation as unprecedented, especially noting that it was the first time a double-digit number was recorded for border encounters. Agents shared their observations, indicating that the calmer conditions have left them with less work to do, even referring to it as “boring.” Homan continued to stress the importance of passing a substantial bill to reinforce the deportation efforts initiated during Trump’s tenure.

Reflecting on the numbers, it appears there’s a noticeable trend since Trump returned to office earlier this year. Just in April, Homan had pointed out how few illegal immigrants were being released under his administration, in stark contrast to the thousands reported under Biden. Yet, it’s worth noting that this drastic change in numbers raises questions about the underlying factors at play.

For the nine individuals released under Biden’s administration at one point, Homan explained that this was an unusual situation. “Four of them were critical witnesses required for a criminal investigation, and we couldn’t send them back due to their severe medical conditions,” he elaborated.

According to reports, on a day in December 2023, around 4,832 illegal immigrants were released while the border patrol encountered approximately 9,000 individuals. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection has also implemented apps like CBP One and CBP Home to help manage and streamline the process for those looking to enter the country while encouraging self-reporting among undocumented individuals.
