San Diego-sector Border Patrol agents were recently instructed to release illegal immigrants from most Eastern Hemisphere countries into the U.S. interior, according to a memo first obtained by the Department of Justice. Washington Examiner.
According to internal communications, single adults from more than 100 countries in the Eastern Hemisphere who entered the United States illegally through the San Diego Sector “NTA/orThe individuals are from “difficult or extremely difficult countries to deport” and are not cooperating with U.S. deportation efforts, the memo said.
The memo states that illegal immigrants from “countries of deportation,” including Russia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan, will not be eligible to be released into the United States and apply for asylum.
“This is gaslighting our fellow Americans.”
A senior Border Patrol official said: Fox NewsBill Melgin said the order to allow illegal immigrants from most Eastern Hemisphere countries into the interior of the U.S. was issued only for the San Diego area, not the entire border. Officials said the illegal immigrants are still ineligible to apply for asylum.
A Department of Homeland Security official told reporters on Friday that deporting individuals would be difficult because many countries in the Eastern Hemisphere won’t cooperate with the U.S. in repatriating their citizens, Fox News Digital reported. The official said they were working with those countries to gain their cooperation.
According to the memo, illegal immigrants from Western Hemisphere countries, including Cuba, Nicaragua, Haiti and Venezuela, are classified as “easily removable.”
San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents received the memo shortly after President Joe Biden announced a new executive order, which the administration claims is intended to crack down on illegal entry amid the ongoing migration crisis at the southern border. Biden’s order temporarily halts illegal border crossings if the number of arrivals exceeds a seven-day daily average of 2,500. The order makes numerous exceptions, including for unaccompanied minors, individuals determined to be “victims of severe human trafficking,” people experiencing medical emergencies, and those who make appointments through Customs and Border Protection’s CBP One app.
On Sunday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas) Fox News Digital He warned that the administration’s order “will actually encourage even more people to cross the border illegally.”
“The number of people crossing the border is not going down. It’s accelerating. This is gaslighting our fellow Americans. Biden stands up and says, ‘Now people aren’t coming across the border,’ he says, ‘Now the border is secure,’ but in fact it’s making illegal border crossings worse,” Abbott said.
