CBP Supervisor Charged with Harboring Illegal Immigrant

A supervisor from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has been accused of harboring an illegal immigrant with whom he had a romantic relationship at his home in Texas.

Andres Wilkinson appeared in federal court recently, and the Justice Department stated he is being held until a detention hearing takes place.

Wilkinson joined CBP in 2001 and was promoted to a supervisory role in 2021, where he managed customs and immigration enforcement tasks.

Authorities became aware that an illegal immigrant, named Elva Edith Garcia Vallejo in court documents, was living with Wilkinson. Federal prosecutors allege the two were involved romantically.

Garcia-Vallejo entered the U.S. using a nonimmigrant visa in August 2023, but her travel visa expired on February 4, 2024, prompting her overstayed status.

The indictment reveals that from June to November 2025, Wilkinson’s residence was under surveillance by authorities, who observed Garcia-Vallejo residing there with a minor child. They also noted that she was using a vehicle registered to Wilkinson.

In February, Garcia-Vallejo was questioned by authorities. Federal prosecutors contend she had been living with Wilkinson since August 2024 and that he provided her with financial support, like housing, credit cards, and access to his vehicle.

Garcia-Vallejo’s husband had initially petitioned for her legal residency but dropped the application in April 2025. The complaint mentions that on May 14, 2025, CBP agents received information suggesting that Garcia-Vallejo was identified incorrectly as Wilkinson’s niece. Prosecutors claim she is actually the “daughter” of a man Wilkinson listed as a brother in a background check from 2023.

The complaint notes that Garcia-Vallejo admitted to living with her uncle Wilkinson since around August 2024. Authorities also reportedly found a document from May 2025 in which Wilkinson confirmed to a local health center that Garcia-Vallejo and her daughters had been living with him since December 7, 2024.

It’s unclear if there is a blood or marital relation between Wilkinson and Garcia-Vallejo.

Wilkinson could face up to 10 years in prison along with a potential $250,000 fine. Authorities have been contacted for comments regarding this case.
