JonBenet Ramsey’s Brother Criticizes Initial Investigation

The brother of JonBenet Ramsey, the murdered child beauty queen, has expressed frustration over what he sees as poor handling of the investigation into her death back in 1996. He’s particularly defended their father, John Ramsey, who has faced criticism for allegedly compromising the crime scene.

John Ramsey discovered his daughter’s lifeless body in the basement of their home in Boulder, Colorado, and carried her upstairs. “It was his home. It was his daughter. Any parent would react the same way,” noted John Andrew Ramsey in an interview shortly after the tragic event.

He strongly criticized the police for their failure to properly manage the situation. “The police let my father search his own home, putting him in a horrific predicament. They alone are to blame,” he stated.

Although he wasn’t at home when JonBenét’s body was found, John Andrew praised local law enforcement for their renewed efforts to resolve the case nearly three decades later. “What the Boulder Police are doing is more significant than many realize,” he commented.

According to him, the department is currently revisiting the investigation, seeking new DNA evidence and interviewing individuals again, which is encouraging. “They’re literally going out to collect DNA from potential suspects. We’ve been gathering evidence privately for years, but the police haven’t made much progress in two decades…I feel optimistic about our chances,” he shared.

However, he does think police need to be more proactive. “Let the best scientists and DNA labs around the globe handle it. Just let them work!” he added.

Earlier in the investigation, John and his wife, Patsy, found a ransom note hours before they discovered their daughter’s body. JonBenét was found with a fractured skull, and a garrote around her neck, leading to a homicide ruling, but the perpetrator has never been caught, leaving many questions unanswered.

Recently, Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfern made a statement asserting they are committed to solving the case, highlighting advances in DNA technology that might allow for testing of existing evidence.

John Andrew remains hopeful about finding the truth. “I’m determined to catch this guy!” he asserted. He emphasized that their father will never relent in the search for the person responsible. “He will fight until his last breath,” John Andrew declared.
