Surveillance cameras caught a suspected robber wearing a cardboard box over his head after he allegedly stole a mobile phone from a store in Florida, but it was long enough for the disguise to come off, and the ill-fitting spot was held. Footage shows an unidentified man smashing a glass display and swiping a cell phone while carrying a box in an attempt to hide his face.
As he was rummaging through the store, at one point he slightly removed the box cover from his head.
Store owner Jeremias Berganza told NBC 6 that the man stole 19 iPhones and $8,000 in cash.
After seeing the man’s face, Berganza said she started looking around the square where the mobile phone repair shop was located and asked others to let them know if they saw the suspect.
The suspected thief was eventually found drinking with a companion at a nearby liquor store in the same square and was arrested by Miami Gardens police later that day, according to the paper.
Authorities have not released the suspect’s name or details about the robbery.
