A 15-year-old boy was shot outside his Brooklyn high school on Tuesday afternoon, according to police and law enforcement sources.
Authorities and sources said the boy was shot in the right leg by what appeared to be another teenager in front of South Shore High School on Flatland Avenue in Canarsie around 2:40 p.m.
Sources said the victim ran after the shooting and collapsed nearby.
Officers responded to the intersection of Glenwood Road and East 58th Street, a short walk from the public school, police said.
The boy was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in stable condition, authorities said.
Police said the shooter, also believed to be a teenage male, fled the scene on foot.
As of early evening, the motive for the violence was unclear.
Sources said the school is conducting weapons checks on students.
Police said the shooting came three days after 17-year-old Cynthia Campbell was shot and killed in an early morning attack in the Bronx.
Police said Campbell was shot in the abdomen around 3:25 a.m. Saturday on Evergreen Avenue near Westchester Avenue in Soundview, one block from his home.
He was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, police said.
Authorities said the shooter fled the scene in a black sedan.
The motive for the killing remained unclear as of Tuesday.
Another 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg Thursday near a Staten Island high school, police said.
Police said the boy was shot outside Ralph R. McKee Career and Technical Education High School in St. George around 1 p.m.
He was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition, police said.
