Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Ongoing Vineyard Dispute
The legal tussle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie over their vineyard, Chateau Miraval, seems to drag on without end.
Pitt initiated the lawsuit against Jolie in 2022 after she sold her shares to a subsidiary of a company he claims is tied to theft. The central issue revolves around whether Jolie’s sale breached their existing contract. Pitt believes that the evidence related to this transaction is crucial.
Recently, his legal team filed a motion requiring testimony from Alexy Olinik, a member of the organization involved. According to court documents reviewed, Pitt’s team also requested records of any communication between Olinik and Jolie about the transaction.
If successful, this could potentially allow for Jolie’s text messages to be submitted as evidence.
A source close to the case mentioned, “The concerns related to theft influenced Jolie’s interest in Miraval, leading to these ungrounded objections.” Consequently, Pitt’s team felt compelled to seek judicial intervention.
Olinik, however, has declined to comply with the deposition, citing his Swiss citizenship and foreign legal protections.
Representatives for both Pitt and Jolie have been contacted for their comments.
The former couple purchased Chateau Miraval together in 2008 and often spent time there during their relationship. In 2021, Jolie sold her stake in the winery to Tenay del Mondo, a subsidiary of the alleged theft group. Pitt contests this sale, asserting that it breached their contractual agreement.
On the other hand, Jolie’s company accused Pitt of orchestrating a “vindictive campaign” that’s detrimental to their business ventures since their divorce proceedings began in 2016.
Earlier court filings indicated that Jolie’s company alleged that Pitt had been “hijacking” Chateau Miraval while irresponsibly squandering its resources on unnecessary renovations.
Although the winery dispute intensifies, it recently emerged that they reached a settlement in a separate, long-running divorce issue. Pitt and Jolie began their relationship in 2004, after crossing paths while filming “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” and later married in 2014.
Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, citing an incident of alleged violence while flying on a private jet with their children. They were declared legally single in 2019, yet their divorce wasn’t finalized until late 2024.
Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, stated at the time, “More than eight years ago, Angelina decided to leave Pitt, focusing on healing and peace for her family, amidst a lengthy and ongoing process.”
