Maureen McCormick Celebrates 40 Years of Marriage
Maureen McCormick, best known for her role as Marcia Brady in “The Brady Bunch,” recently celebrated a significant milestone—40 years of marriage to her husband, Michael Cummings. They shared some surprisingly simple insights on how to maintain a lasting relationship in the often challenging world of Hollywood.
“A sense of humor is essential,” McCormick noted during a recent event in Los Angeles. “You just can’t take things too seriously.” She added that it’s important to embrace both the good and the bad moments, fostering a bond that feels truly special.
Reflecting on their relationship, McCormick mentioned, “We really knew early on that we wanted to be together forever.” Interestingly, when they first met, Cummings wasn’t even aware of her television fame, which turned out to be quite refreshing for McCormick. “I remember feeling exhilarated by that,” she said, recalling how he simply saw her for who she was rather than her celebrity status.
McCormick expressed, “He had no preconceived notions about who I was, and that was amazing.” With roots dating back to the 1980s, the couple tied the knot in 1985 and welcomed their daughter, Natalie, four years later.
Over the years, they’ve focused on family over fame, striving to remember the joy of celebrating their love. “Honestly, we keep finding reasons to celebrate our anniversary,” McCormick remarked. “It’s really about putting in the effort to nurture our relationship.”
McCormick’s journey has been noteworthy—she starred in “The Brady Bunch” for five years and has appeared in various spin-offs and other shows like “Love Boat” and “Dancing with the Stars.” Recently, she reflected on the challenges of sobriety and how it’s shaped her life. “Every day it gets a little easier, though it wasn’t so at first,” she revealed, acknowledging the difficulties she faced with addiction earlier in life.
Although her path hasn’t been straightforward, McCormick credits her husband, family, and close friends for supporting her through tough times. She feels incredibly fortunate to have Cummings by her side, stating, “I truly feel blessed to have him in my life.”
In sharing their love story, she illuminates the importance of humor and understanding in a relationship that’s stood the test of time, offering a glimpse into life beyond the bright lights of Hollywood.
