Star receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s contract frustrations may be reaching a boiling point for the San Francisco 49ers thanks to his latest cryptic TikTok.
Aiyuk, who previously posted a TikTok of himself chatting with Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels over FaceTime, now uploaded an image of him watching the Commanders practice during minicamp in June.
While there are certainly questions about how Aiyuk was able to access film from other teams’ camps, it appears the disgruntled receiver is using the film sessions as a way to vent his frustrations.
And he wasn’t shy about mentioning the Commanders or Daniels.
He posted a conversation with Daniels on TikTok, saying, “They (49ers) said they don’t want me back…it’s true.”
Aiyuk has yet to receive the contract extension he wanted from the 49ers and is set to play this season in the final year of his $14.1 million rookie contract.
If the 49ers really wanted to test fate, they could let Aiyuk play out on that contract and place the franchise tag on him in 2025 rather than giving him the long-term stability he so desperately needs.
Aiyuk was the No. 2 receiver in the entire NFL last season, behind talented speedster Tyreek Hill, according to Pro Football Focus.
San Francisco drafted receiver Ricky Pearsall with the 31st overall pick in April, and he could be viewed as a contingency plan for the team’s offensive strength.
If Aiyuk does try to force his way to Washington, D.C., the 26-year-old wide receiver would be a welcome addition to a Commanders offense that just added his former college quarterback.
Aiyuk played catcher for Daniels, then a freshman, during his senior year at Arizona State, catching 65 passes for 1,192 yards and eight touchdowns.
Daniels is set to win the Heisman Trophy in 2023 at LSU after transferring from Arizona State.
Commanders fans are clamoring for the team to acquire Aiyuk, but the price tag will undoubtedly be steep and the draft capital could be valuable for a rebuilding Commanders team.
