Brandon Beane gives a three-word reply to Joe Brady's criticism

Brandon Beane seems unfazed by the buzz surrounding the Buffalo Bills’ decision to elevate offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coach.

In fact, the general manager had a strong response to those questioning the choice, even using some choice language. Last week, the announcement generated mixed reactions online.

Beane commented during a recent interview with Go Long, saying, “It’s shit outside. This is the right pick for this team. And if we win, they’ll be happy. It’s the same approach I had with Josh Allen. If I’m wrong, I’ll have to find another job. I get it. But I won’t regret choosing someone just to satisfy outside opinions. If I’m mistaken, I’ll walk away.”

The organization is banking on the 36-year-old Brady to propel the franchise past the playoff hurdle in search of a championship.

This comes after a disappointing playoff exit in January, where Buffalo lost to the Broncos in overtime, leading to Sean McDermott’s departure.

Bills owner Terry Pegula, during a recent press conference that had its share of ups and downs, highlighted Josh Allen’s emotional reaction when the decision was made to part ways with McDermott after nine seasons.

A Bills executive mentioned, “My intuition pointed to him,” referring to Brady.

“I really don’t want to be wrong, but when your gut tells you it’s Joe Brady, you can’t let him slip away. I wouldn’t do that,” Beane added.

“We want the support of everyone as we move forward, but it’s not about impressing the press. It’s about winning games,” he noted.

The Bills were somewhat late in the coaching hiring process, becoming the 10th team this offseason to seek a new leader.

They had discussions with former Bills coaches Brian Daboll and Anthony Lynn, as well as a noteworthy conversation with veteran quarterback Philip Rivers, who ultimately withdrew his name from consideration.

The Bills officially introduced Brady as their new head coach on Thursday. He had been with the team as quarterbacks coach since 2022 before taking on the full-time role of offensive coordinator in 2024.
