Brandon Lake, the Grammy Award-winning Christian musician, performed on ABC’s Good Morning America on Monday, sharing his popular song Hard Fight Hallelujah. He expressed that his goal is to spread God’s love through his music.
This performance came just three months after Lake achieved significant recognition at the 2025 Dove Awards, where he took home three awards including Song of the Year and Music Video of the Year.
When host Lara Spencer mentioned his contribution to the growth of the Christian music genre, Lake stayed modest. “I’m just chasing song after song, trying to show people a higher hope and point them to Jesus,” he shared.
Initially, Hard Fight Hallelujah was released as a single with only Lake’s voice, but it gained tremendous popularity after he worked with Jelly Roll on it. “I knew he could relate to the lyrics… because he’s lived his faith,” Lake noted, expressing pride in Jelly Roll for his strong beliefs, despite acknowledging his own struggles. “That’s what this song is about. Even when you’re not feeling it, it’s still just singing from ‘Hallelujah.’”
During the episode, Lake surprised Spencer with a lighthearted comment about Maury Povich, another guest. “We both tell people who our father is,” he said cheerfully. “I came here to tell them who our Heavenly Father is.”
Povich, well-known for his reality show, featured numerous dramatic paternity tests that revealed biological fathers.
In recent discussions, Jelly Roll has openly shared his faith journey, mentioning during an ESPN broadcast that his transformation was due to Jesus. “I hope you don’t get mad at me for saying this on TV, but first and foremost, it’s all about God, baby,” he reportedly stated. He encouraged viewers to “immerse yourself in the gospel, and it will change your life.”
“That’s where I am right now. I’m somewhere between Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. It’s doing it for me, baby. I’m not forcing it on anyone. I’m just sharing what’s worked for me.”
