A distressing video has emerged showing an elderly couple in Australia attempting to confront one of the attackers during the Bondi Beach incident, only to be shot and left fatally injured together.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, 69-year-old Boris Garman and his 61-year-old wife Sophia noticed a gunman emerge from a vehicle displaying an improvised ISIS flag just before the attack escalated. They bravely intervened in a bid to stop the violence.
Dramatic dashcam footage captures Boris heroically tackling terrorist Sajid Akram, trying to wrestle away his weapon, while Sophia rushes to help him.
Boris can be seen attempting to deter the assailant by aiming a rifle at him, only for Akram to regain control by retrieving another firearm.
The couple, who had been together for 34 years and lived locally in Bondi, were subsequently shot at close range.
Tragic drone footage revealed the couple embracing one another in their final moments.
Their family shared, “We learned of the footage showing Boris courageously trying to disarm his attacker to protect others, with Sofia by his side.”

“While nothing can ease the heartache of losing Boris and Sofia, we are incredibly proud of their bravery and selflessness,” their family expressed in a statement.
“This truly reflects who Boris and Sophia were: individuals who instinctively and selflessly sought to aid others.”
The couple were among the first of 15 victims fatally shot by Akram and his son Naveed, marking Australia’s deadliest mass shooting in nearly three decades.
In addition to their efforts, two other individuals were also recorded trying to take on the assailant amidst the chaos.
One such individual, Ahmed al-Ahmed, a Muslim father of two, bravely charged at one of the gunmen from behind, successfully disarming him despite being wounded multiple times.
Another bystander, identified as Reuben Morrison, 62, threw a brick at a terrorist but was also shot and killed.
“When the shooting started, he jumped down to throw a brick,” recalled Sheena Gutnick, Mr. Morrison’s daughter.
“Had he one purpose in life, it would certainly have been to confront terrorists.”
