On Wednesday, journalist Mike Cernovich referred to Breitbart News as a foundational element of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement that helped propel Donald Trump to the presidency.
Cernovich shared his thoughts in a social media post, highlighting several influential figures within the movement:
“The original MAGA moment began with Peter Thiel’s lawsuit over Gamergate. It included figures like Akkad, PJW, Sargon of Akkad, Stefan Molyneux, and Gawker, which shows you can fight back. Not to forget Milo, Arum Bokhari, Alex Marlow, Breitbart, Don Jr., Bannon, Roger Stone, and other key players. And while Scott might not have fully backed Trump, Hillary’s actions made it impossible for Alex Jones and others from the InfoWars team to remain silent. Videos from Zdenek Gazda and Hillary Van also played a part. General Flynn, Jim Hoft, and Cassandra Fairbanks were involved too. 2025 is going to be quite different. This isn’t really just about where you were or where you are now; time has a way of changing perspectives. But understanding the truth is important.”
Reactions to his message on social media were swift, with several users contributing more names to the discussion.
Conservative activist Robbie Starbuck remarked, “Scott Bio and I have both faced significant career setbacks for supporting Trump.”
Another user expressed skepticism about Trump’s ownership of the MAGA brand, suggesting, “This history makes me think that MAGA might outlast Trump’s political journey.” Others joined in, stating, “It’s not about individual personalities but about a mission.”
In March, Breitbart News marked the 13th anniversary of the passing of its founder, Andrew Breitbart, emphasizing that he “understood culture as a key driver of political change.”
The outlet reflected, “No one grasped the media and political landscape better than Andrew, and he uniquely tackled the left’s hypocrisy.”
A few months following Andrew Breitbart’s passing, Breitbart News noted that Trump’s administration was achieving successes within the MAGA movement. On July 8th, they reported ongoing victories for America under Trump’s leadership.
Additionally, Trump has recently mentioned that Vice President JD Vance could emerge as a potential leader for the future of the MAGA movement, as noted by Breitbart News.
