First on FOX: The Road Trip Colorado Family told the FBI they saw Brian Laundry behave “like a madman” on the side of the road in Moab, Utah. Laundry related documents.

The nameless man told FBI agents that he was driving his family on a trip from Denver, Colorado, when he saw the couple in Moab on August 12, 2021. Las Vegas, Nevada.

They passed the white Ford Transit van and he thought he had seen a man slap a woman. He was so worried that he pulled a U-turn and parked across the street to look at things.

According to the FBI summary, the man in the van, believed to be a laundry, has opened sporadically and slammed at the door, slamming around the van. He appears to be appealing to the woman, and at one point he tries to hold her, but the man eventually pushes the woman's feet into the passenger side of the van and closes the door. ”

After that, the witnesses said that both of them began to cry.

He said he thought about intervening or calling 911, but ultimately decided not to. He called 911 on the same day on an unrelated incident in which the truck driver said he would drive him off the road.

He said he and his daughter contacted the FBI in September after seeing news reports of Petit's loss of failure and recognizing the couple as those who saw the couple in Moab.

Petty's mother, Nicole Schmidt, said she had no prior knowledge of the new witnesses and was interested in talking to them.

The Moab case was still a crucial moment in the case as Fox News Digital first reported the domestic violence incident in September 2021.

Police split the couple in the evening but did not make any charges, so Laundry went home to Florida for almost a week. However, he rejoins Petit on the road and is believed to have killed her on August 27th.

The final release of the FBI laundry documents includes detailed maps of her body search in the Bridger Teton National Forest and lead after Schmidt reported that Petit was missing on September 11, 2021. It included dozens of pages of notes from the investigators that we followed up. Police in Suffolk County, New York.

Another section of the note includes an FBI interview with people who said they met a man named Brian in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming two days after the murder.

They told the FBI that Brian claimed he was hiking along the Snake River for six days and got lost.

“I need to go back to my fiancé,” he said. Witnesses said she was working on a “vlog.” While on the ride, Brian told them that he and his fiancé had earned income from “digital nomads” videos and claimed they were organic farmers in New York. He also said they just went to Utah.

When they arrive at Jackson Hole, it “tears him away.” Apparently Brian wanted to hitchhike North, but they were taking him south. He offered them $50-$200 for the ride, but gave them nothing.

The memo shows that investigators were investigating leads from social media posts and true crime coverage through major news outlets and podcasters. They downplayed the usefulness of investigating case-specific YouTube videos, but noted that they were contacted by many witnesses who recognized Laundry and Petit due to widespread coverage.

One of those witnesses said that Brian identified him as Brian Landry in the photo array and that she recognized his “bubbly eyebrows” and “sloppy whiskers.”

The FBI also appears to have learned about the couple's discussion with staff at the Mary Piglet restaurant in Jackson, Wyoming through news articles.

The bureau also investigated many false sightings of Petit and Laundry before their bodies were found.

Investigators fact-checked a viral video aimed at showing the laundry on a crocodile-wearing boat in a short Instagram live video in search of a record of ownership of the boat.

Petty's mattress was missing from her van after Northport police towed it from the Laundry family in Florida.

A search led by the FBI found that she remains in the Spread Creek Dispersed Camp Area north of Jackson.

A month later, Fox News Digital was the only media presence at the scene where Laundry's parents led police to the body at Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, near his home.

They also retrieved a waterproof bag containing his handwritten confession.
