Brian Walshe attacked in Massachusetts jail ahead of October murder trial

Brian Walche, a man from Massachusetts accused of dismembering his wife, was assaulted in prison on Thursday, just weeks ahead of his murder trial. The attack occurred at the Dedham Correctional Centre shortly before 10 PM. Although the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office did not officially identify Walche as the victim, his attorney, Larry Tipton, confirmed he had been stabbed.

Following the incident, Walche was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for treatment. He returned to prison later that night, as noted in a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Walche faces allegations of murdering and dismembering his wife, Anna, who disappeared on New Year’s Day in 2023. His trial is scheduled for October. Anna, a mother of three and a real estate expert who previously worked in Washington, D.C., was reported missing a few days after that date. Unfortunately, her body has not been found.

The sheriff’s statement mentioned that other individuals were controlled by officers during the incident and that makeshift blunt instruments were recovered.

Additionally, Brian Walche was seen on surveillance footage purchasing various items from a Home Depot, including mops, brushes, goggles, and a utility knife. Investigators suspect he used these items to dispose of Anna’s body. During the search for her, a hacksaw with small bone fragments was discovered in a trash can near Walche’s mother’s house. Following Anna’s disappearance, he reportedly made numerous Google searches about disposing of bodies.

Compounding the tension, Walche had hired a private investigator before Anna’s disappearance due to suspicions of infidelity. Their marriage had been strained, as he was facing legal troubles related to selling counterfeit Andy Warhol paintings and was under house arrest.

The investigation is still ongoing, and more details may emerge as the trial approaches.
