Bride takes key from man suspected of shooting over argument about groomsman eating meatballs with his hands

Wedding Reception Takes a Violent Turn

So, it turns out bringing bear spray to your wedding might not be such a bad idea after all. Who could have predicted that a simple argument over a groomsman eating meatballs with his hands could escalate into gunfire? But that’s exactly what happened at a wedding in Wisconsin last month, where unfortunately, bullets replaced love in the air. The aftermath left two people hospitalized, and a 41-year-old man now faces two felony charges.

Witnesses reported that the bride’s cousin caught sight of the groom’s groomsmen indulging in meatballs, sans utensils, in the kitchen. When she told one of them to use a plate, things took a turn for the worse—he responded with a hit.

And you know, it feels like the kind of wedding where you could cut the tension with a knife, or maybe a meatball. The woman’s brother-in-law tried to step in, but before long, gunshots rang out, according to the police.

The alleged shooter was identified by several bystanders, including the bride. He was a friend of the meatball enthusiast, Thomas Redrick Williams. When law enforcement arrived, the bride handed them a keychain, which seems… well, a bit bizarre.

But it gets stranger. She reportedly witnessed the confrontation and the man she called “Boog” emerging from the kitchen brandishing a gun. How did the keychain factor in? Apparently, she managed to wrest it away from him while he was trying to flee, but he still made a run for it.

Reports from last week indicated that police are actively searching for Williams, who is facing charges that include first-degree reckless injury with a dangerous weapon and other felonies, like firearm possession as a convicted felon.

Maybe, just maybe, asking someone to eat their meatballs with a plate isn’t such a tall order. Who knew this would become a headline? The bride, on the other hand, seemed pretty unfazed, at least while being photographed. Strange day indeed.
