A bride was injured in a shooting at a popular nightclub in downtown Washington, D.C., just two weeks before her wedding.
Renwell Mantock is accused of opening fire and striking multiple bystanders at Decades on Connecticut Avenue NW on April 26 as they tried to escort him from the club. .
“I’m in so much pain, but I’m just so grateful to be alive,” said the bride-to-be, a mother of three named Katie. told FOX 5 DC. “After the first shots were fired, the bouncer lifted the rope. And as I was running…I was shot.”
The shooting occurred in an area that is heavily guarded and sees a lot of nighttime activity over the weekend.

Mantock is charged with six counts of assault with intent to murder and six counts of possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, according to D.C. court records.
“I will never return to the streets of Washington, D.C.”
“I’m never going back to the streets of D.C.,” Katie told FOX 5. “I didn’t do anything wrong in what was supposed to be the safest place in D.C. and I got shot. “It was,” he said.

“The security guard then grabbed him by the neck and punched him in the face just before pulling him down the stairs,” Mantock said, where he said the security guard punched him in the face again. The suspect told authorities that he was “very upset about the security guard punching him in the face” and that’s when he pulled out his gun and started shooting, according to a police report. .

Authorities recovered the suspect’s gun from under the vehicle, which the suspect allegedly threw after firing. A total of six victims were shot and taken to nearby hospitals.
