A recent document from the Department of the Army has shed light on the flight capabilities of unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
This past Friday morning, the Pentagon shared a collection of files related to unidentified anomalous phenomena, outlining the findings of U.S. intelligence investigations.
One official recalled being part of a team dispatched in 2025 to look into strange sounds and sightings of a “ball-like” object near key U.S. military sites.
“Our mission aimed to investigate a loud noise reported at a mountain test site, which coincided with various sightings in the preceding nights,” he recounted.
While flying low in a helicopter, the team came across a “large cave entrance with no visible end,” though they couldn’t find a place to land safely.
As fuel levels dropped, the pilots headed to a predetermined rendezvous point, where they offloaded an unknown official before seeking a tanker for refueling. Eventually, their operations center detected a radar signal in the vicinity that matched the previous night’s sightings.
Equipped with infrared goggles, the ground team quickly spotted the UAP, describing it as “extremely hot,” low to the ground, and moving at a rapid pace.
“The object then split in two and changed direction,” the officer summarized, referring to the team’s feedback. This behavior might not be the only extraordinary occurrence involving unidentified objects.
Shortly after, a police officer and two pilots arrived to survey the area, utilizing night vision goggles, infrared light, and their own eyesight. Ground crews reported that a foreign object ascended from the ground, flew within ten feet of their helicopter, then dropped below it and took off.
“The pilot watched it through his night vision goggles, seeing a small object emerge and split into two before vanishing from view,” he remembered.
The helicopter reportedly tracked the object, yet couldn’t match its speed. Later, the officer was informed that several fighter jets nearby had been summoned to help identify the UAP.
This “close encounter” with the UAP reportedly lasted over an hour when a helicopter was called to inspect a nearby mountain.
The report’s summary notes that the incident transpired sometime in 2025, documenting encounters with unidentified “glowing orbs” from both short and long distances.
They explained that one object appeared to accelerate away in two different directions, with various “high altitude” spheres closing in on the helicopter. Photographs included in the report, one of which allegedly depicts the object after it had split in two, mostly date back to 1999.
