French First Lady Brigitte Macron presents photographic proof in a US court as part of a defamation lawsuit against Candice Owens.
Mrs. Macron, along with President Emmanuel Macron, initiated legal action in July, claiming “significant reputational harm” caused by Owens. She specifically referred to a persistent, “false” assertion that she is a man, according to reports.
Owens propagated unfounded rumors that suggested the First Lady was assigned male at birth and claimed she had previously gone by the name Jean Michel Trogleux, which is actually the name of Mrs. Macron’s older brother.
Some conservative commentators described the lawsuit as an attempt to silence Owens and conceal the supposed truth.
In remarks during the BBC’s Fame Under Fire podcast, Macron’s lawyer Tom Clare indicated that Mrs. Macron found the allegations “deeply distressing” and “disruptive” for the French president.
“I wouldn’t say it has completely derailed him. But, you know, when your family is under attack, it’s like the person trying to balance work and home life; it affects him too, despite being president,” he explained.
When questioned about the possibility of Macron submitting photographs of Mrs. Macron during her pregnancy, Clare confirmed that such images exist and would be presented in court according to established guidelines.
The lawsuit against Owens was officially filed in Delaware, USA.
Along with countering the transgender claims, the lawsuit also challenges other dubious assertions, including the idea that President Macron is a product of a CIA mind control program, or that he was sexually abused by his wife as a teenager.
Last year, President Macron himself addressed the unfounded claim regarding his wife’s gender.
As previously reported, the Macron family dismissed the allegations, equating them to conspiracy theories like the flat Earth notion, with President Macron calling the claims “false” and “manufactured.” He expressed frustration over the situation.
Documents submitted in July include a birth certificate from April 13, 1953, alongside a childhood photo and another from her first wedding in 1974.
Mrs. Macron is 72 years old, born in Amiens, northern France, and has three children from a previous marriage.
